850w PSU moved to Japan 2017/9/8 15:09
I recently moved to Tokyo and I brought with me my Desktop PC. My PSU is the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3 80+ GOLD. Will this work on a Japanese outlet and if not what options would I have in order to power my PC?

Are we to guess where the country of origin is? Helps with voltage related questions...

Most PC power supplies have the ability to switch between 230V and 100V. Sometime they have a manual switch. You could always look at the back of your PC and google the power supplys details.

Just look at the label; the input voltage range will be written on it. There may also be a physical input voltage switch.

USa is 120V, Japan is 100V. A simple google search will open up a world of information to you if you are will to do your own research.

First off I knew that. I don't however know jack about electricity so I want better knowledge from experienced people before I plug in a $3000 machine.

googled up your psu , and there is a picture that show power supply info sticker.
basically it is universal power rating 100-240V 10A 50/60hz. it will work.

is that so hard to do? pfft..

the original power cable, again show in the picture is 3-prong. most household power socket are 2 flat pin. no ground.

get a new cable with 2 pins https://goo.gl/ejFfg8
or adaptor 3 to 2 pin https://goo.gl/d4a8pU
or UPS https://goo.gl/QWCxWd

Many of the old one and cheaper ones usually have a switch for voltage change, many of the more expensive ones are auto voltage, just read the lable on the PSU, it should stated it there.
