Fuji Shibarazuka Festival timing

Hi folks,
We will be in Fuji Five Lakes area on Mon, 16 Apr next year and wondering if it's worth stopping by at Fuji Shibarazuka Festival considering we might be too early?
It seems the general consensus is to wait until the Golden Week, or the first three weeks of May to go and visit it. Has anyone visited the festival as early as that and what can be expected?
