Best way visit Karuizawa-Matsumoto-Kamikochi

I plan to visit Karuizawa then Matsumoto and Kamikochi in this 3 day weekend in Japan with my family (Total 2 people so car rent might not worth it).
I plan to use JR Tokyo Wide pass combined with 2 day Matsumoto-Kamikochi pass but unsure what should i do about the Karuizawa-Matsumoto transportation.
Any other possible option for this route apart from JR Pass? Even though it cheaper than normal fare, it still very expensive and we use for only 3 days out of it valid 7 day period. Any suggestion?
