Ashio Copper Mine (Nikko) Worth it?

I happened across pictures of the Ashio Copper Mine in Nikko when I was searching for places to visit on my one night, two day stay in Nikko from Tokyo.
Is the mine worth a visit for the time it takes to get there?
I noticed that it'll take at least an hour by bus or more. The train lines apparently would take many hours since there isn't a straightforward way to get there.
I thought the pictures looked neat and I love underground places to visit, but I'm not sure if this one is worth the trouble.
If it is not, are there any other mines or underground places you'd recommend to visit in Nikko or Tokyo?
