Kiso Valley in March 2017/12/5 12:58
I will be visiting Japan mid March and was wondering if the trail between Magome and Tsumago would be walk-able, and also if any of the shops and restaurants would be open?

Kiso Valley belongs to the Pacific Ocean side. It snows less than the Japan Sea side. The actual situation should differ over the years. Anyway, I have checked three videos. The conclusion is that you do not have to worry about it so much unless you would come there in early March.

This person started a walk early. His lunch was at 10:10 in the video. He was on a safer side and prepared for frozen roads.

There was some snow barely left. Shops were all open.

No snow anymore. He also started early to cover Narai as well. Shops were all open at a later time in the day.
