Travelling to Mount Koya on New Year

Hi there I would like to go for a short trip to Mt Koya on 1st January. Understand that the railway tracks between Hashimoto and Gokurakubashi are damaged and we could only take the train only as far as Hashimoto where they have to transfer to a substitute bus to Koyasan. Does anyone know the bus schedule and what time is the first and last bus there? Also, does the bus go all the way to Mount Koya or does it stop at Gokurakubashi and we have to take the cable car up? Thanks!

It goes all the way to Koyasan. The buses seem to be timed to arriving trains: http://www.nankai.co.jp/var/rev0/0008/1757/nan_koya_b.pdfThe website states that delays of up to 2 hours can be expected on busy days, such as weekends. I am afraid that the delays will be at their worst over the New Year holidays. Maybe even over 2 hours.
