Akita Kanto matsuri, book seats?

Hi,
I will go to Akita next 3d August during Kanto matsuri. I've heard there are booked seats, do we strongly need to book seats - and how? - or we can just go there without reservations and enjoy the festival? Please those who went there tell us your experience.

I visited the matsuri last August, without seat reservation and didn't encounter any issue. The problem I had was accommodation, very expensive and they were booked out early.
