Hi,
I am traveling to Tokyo with 2 kids, 5 & 2 years old. Planning to have rental car for short trips to Hakone, Izu etc
What are the rules for car seat for kids? Are the seats easily available at rent a car locations?

First option on a google search.

Car seats are readily available from car rental companies. They would need to be pre-booked along with the car. And they will provide you with any info when booking. Or you can contact them in English any time you wish using their contact details on their websites.
