Reserved seatings Minami-Chitose to Hakodate?

Hi all,

I will be arriving in Chitose on the 7th May 2018 and heading straight to Hakodate in the mornings. Will be taking the Super Hokuto LE or similar limited express. Do I need to get reserved seatings for 2 person? I am not using any passes. Just getting a ticket on that day at the airport.

Does the train also have space for luggage?

You don't need to buy the reserved seat ticket, but even in this case you have to buy unreserved seat ticket (this is somewhat wrong naming in Hyperdia, it is actually "limited express fee"). In your case you should take unreserved seat of Airport 97 which does not require additional fee and then transfer at Minami-chitose to LTD. EXP SUPER HOKUTO 8. The total fare is 7590 yen if you take the unreserved seat on Super Hokuto 8.

Yes, but the luggage space might be more easily accessed from the reserved seat cars. If you take the reserved seat, the total fare is 8110 yen. I am not sure but the express fare might change slightly depending on the date.

Wow didnt realize I need to add another \2900 for riding the express. In that case, I think I will buy the 3 Days Hokkaido Pass for \16,500. I think the Hokkaido Pass allows me to reserved seatings without extra charges?

Btw how does the luggage storage works? is it at the front and rear of each cars?

Yes, you are right. You can also take reserved seat of "Airport" train though it is only 3 min.

thanks for the seats layout - exactly what I was looking for.....I think the "last row seats" might work for me....
only thing is I dont get the ocean view on the way....but never mind cause on my way back to Sapporo, I will get that view......
