Will you have a chance to stop by Nagoya?

July Grand Sumo Tournament (#) is held in Nagoya City (in Aichi Prefecture), from the 8th to the 22nd of July in this year 2018.

Advance tickets for the last several days could be so popular that you might have to try your lack to get same-day general admission tickets at the venue, waiting in a queue in the early morning.
Matches in the highest Makunouchi division take place in the late afternoon.

: The 16th of July 2018 will be a public holiday.
: The summer vacation for most school children starts from around the 20th of July.

- Japan Guide: Sumo
: Check gHow to see a sumo tournamenth section.

A Grand Sumo regular competition, though losers do not leave it, is called as a tournament.
Six tournaments are held in a year, each for 15 days from Sunday to Sunday
: in January in Tokyo, in March in Osaka City, in May in Tokyo, in July in Nagoya City, in September in Tokyo, in November in Fukuoka City.

Nagoya is only an hour and a half from Tokyo on the shinkansen. It is possible to make a day trip out of it.
