Kampo medicine for anxiety? 2018/6/8 06:24
A friend suggested I try kampo medicine to take anxiety.
She said it's herbal medicine in powder form.
What exactly is it? And where can I find it specifically for anxiety?

I've never heard of any Kampo to ease anxiety. Most Japanese people take Kampo only when we get cold. But I looked into a website of major Japanese Kampo company called ƒcƒ€ƒ‰. There seemed many types of Kampo medicines for mental depression such us nervous disorder or insomnia.

Hope it helps.

There are also many specialized shops where you can get advise. Look out for shops saying Š¿•û–ò on their shop sign. They often look like herb or tea shops from far.
Prepare yourself a sentence in Japanese what kind of kanpo you need and they should be able to advise you accordingly.
Now if kanpo works or not, isnft something I can advise on. But as long as your anxiety isnft too bad you can at least give it a try. If however it is impacting you in your daily life or you get suicidal ideas, please go to a doctor. Medical treatment exists and can help you.

Wishing you a quick recovery!

ANX,

"Kampo" or more formally "kampo-yaku" simply means "Chinese herbal remedy". In traditional form, they would be dried herbs that look like dried tea leaves, but there are other versions like powder or pills which are easier to take.

I use kampo for almost anything, and I also agree with everything you say your friend says, but we cannot specify what kampo it is just by your description. I sometimes take ones that says it's supposed to ease anxiety. I'm not sure if it's working or not, though.

Generally speaking, kampo is believed to have less side effects compared to the modern Western medicine, but you usually need to keep taking it for a long time, and the cure is supposed to come very slowly.

Here are some examples of the ones that are supposed to ease anxiety, depending on what kind of anxiety it is:
