Travel to Toyama

Hi,
A few questions regarding travel between Yuzawa and Toyama:
1. To get to Ainokura does the bus leave from Shin-Takaoka station?
I have read the Japan Guide page on this, but it is unclear whether the bus leaves from Shin-Takaoka Station or if I have to go the Shirakawa-go. I will be coming from Echigo-Yuzawa station.
2. What is the quickest route to Ainokura from Echigo-Yuzawa? Hyperdia suggested the Snow Rabbit to Arai, stopping at Joetsumyoko, then Shinkansen Hakutaka to Shin-Takaoka.
This differs when I alter the departure time (as I am not 100% sure yet). Is there are few other easy routes that I should be aware of in case this changes?
3. Should I be trying to reserve seats or can I wing it? I will be travelling at the end of July this year.
