Can foreigners sell to liquor off? 2018/6/18 16:02
I will be heading to Tokyo on vacation and was thinking about bringing some of my liquor collection to sell so I have extra money. Would I be allowed to sell at Liquor Off, and do they pay fair enough to make it worthwhile?

I'm not 100% sure on this. But I think you have to be a Japanese resident to sell to second hand shops. Books CDs etc.

You canft. To sell alcoholic drinks you need to get a proper license.

The aim of duty free is for personal consumption - not to sell. How are you going to sell Alcohol to make some money in Japan anyway??

I think the OP is talking about bringing in some vintage or rare alcohol to Japan in order to see it to a retailer, like bringing in your antique camera and selling it to MAP Camera or something similar.

It's quite different to sell alcoholic drink and to sell a camera. The former always need a license and the latter doesn't as long as you sell your own belonging.

the answer is easy.

1) you need a licence for selling liqueur
2) You need to be resident since they will ask for your JP ID
3) if you import you may only bring 2 bottles of up to 750ml duty-free.

I believe the OP is talking about taking some vintage bottles to a specific secondhand dealer called Liquor Off, like taking used books and games to Book Off, and seeing if they take them.

I know they ask for ID, but am not sure if only residents can sell.
