Hi there,
I will be moving to Tokyo in August and will be searching for an appartment straight away. We have been told by my wife's employer to bring our own wifi router, are they expensive to buy there? Where are good places to buy electrical goods such as a tv ect. for reasonable prices

Any electric shop will sell it or buy online.
To check price, do a search at
www.kakaku.com
which will list prices and where to buy.
and buy anything that is convenient/fancy your liking.
