Traditional Japanese sword 2018/7/16 17:12
We would like to buy traditional Japanese sword, the real one. Can you recommend us any place to buy it? and where they can ship it to Europe? We are travelling from Tokio to Miyajima and back through the Japanese alps... Thank you for tips.

Japan Sword in Tokyo. Short walk from Toronomon Station on the Ginza subway line. They will ship to USA so I'm sure will ship to Europe. Very good service and English spoken.

Especially for Europe I highly recommend to buy a real Japanese sword in the country where you live. A decent sword costs 5000 € upwards and you have to pay VAT at the customs. Do not expect to get a VAT refund for the tax you paied in Japan. Currently, auction prices for Japanese weapons are very low in Europe so it does not make any sense to buy them directly in Japan. Furthermore, you have to bear in mind that you are not allowed to take the sword into the airplane cabin and you need a Japanese export licence! The seller must organize shipment for you.
