Fall activities similar to US

I'm from the US, New England to be specific.
Fall is the most popular season there.
Leaf peeping, pumpkin picking, Halloween, etc.
It's a lot of family oriented activities.
It makes me miss home a lot.
What fall activities do you recommend?
I live in Aichi, but am happy to go to Gifu, Shizuoka, Shiga, Mie, others close by.
I miss going to Salem, MA for Halloween.
Going to the mountains for the leaves.
Carving pumpkins, etc.
Really looking to get that "New England fall" this year in Japan if possible.
