Full-time job/Freelancing in Japan

Hello,
I have a full-time job in a IT company in Japan. Prior to working as a full-time developer, I used to be a freelancer in India working on multiple projects.
One of my old client wants me to work on the project that I did months ago and is ready to pay in India. He says, I can work part-time ( and on weekends).
Do you think, I can take up this project ? Will I be violating any norms in Japan.
Would appreciate your thoughts on this.
