Buying train tickets online from abroad?

Is it possible to buy in advance - online from another country - a train ticket for a specific day, including reserved seats? (not a pass like JR Pass, just for one trip - for example from Kyoto to Hiroshima next month)

Check the Smart-Ex application, but that is only for the Tokaido/Sanyo shinkansen.

For JREast, you can reserve some of their trains online in advance.
For other train services/tickets, there are some purchasing/buying services that buy the physical tickets and they will send them to you.
