JR Hashidate to Amanohashidate Question

Hi,

Does anyone know what's the current state of traveling to Amanohashidate on JR Hashidate (From Kyoto)?

Few years ago, I went to Amanohashidate when they still have the Amanohashidate Pass (which has been discontinued), and I could purchase the pass on the train from the conductor.

Is it still possible to purchase ticket on JR Hashidate ( for Fukuchiyama to Amanohashidate section) or do I need to purchase my ticket elsewhere?

Few years ago, I went to Amanohashidate

Maybe it was before April 2015.

The railway lines connecting Fukuchiyama, Miyazu and Toyooka
were operated until March 2015 by Kitakinki Tango Railway [KTR],
who still owns the railway facilities.
On the 1st of April 2015,
the operation was taken over
by a company of WILLER Group (known for expressway bus),
who uses the nicknames Kyoto Tango Railway and Tantetsu.

Is it still possible to purchase ticket on JR Hashidate

Basically you purchase at a station your tickets for Hashidate train rides;
to purchase a pass shown above, you have to visit a manned counter.

I remember KTR offered a service to hand a booked pass to the passenger on a train;
I am not sure whether Tantetsu may make on-board sales in a particular situation.

If you are visiting Amanohashidate from Osaka or Kyoto, I will consider kansai Wide Area pass, you can use the pass for 5 day, and alone Amanohashidate from Kobe almost cover the cost.

Remember when make reservation before you arrive Japan, it will cost 9000yen, in Japan it will cost 10000yen, since you can reserve for the pass and pay for it when you arrive at the airport, do not buy from a agent, they will add commission on top of the price.
