Is 1 hour enough for Zao Crater? 2018/9/15 14:36
I was looking at the schedule of the free bus from Kaminoyama-onsen here http://www.zaoliza.co.jp/summer/access/2018ekoogou0427-1104.pdf and we were planning to get on the 1:15PM bus which will arrive at Kattadake at 2:25PM. Since there are only 2 buses for the day, the last bus back to Kaminoyama-onsen will already leave at 3:30PM. Considering that we only have one hour to ride the lift and walk to the crater and back, is this enough time? If ever we miss that last bus, will there be other modes of transportation? Thank you!

This bus seems to be for the Okama crater so 65 min should be enough. To go to the crater you will take 7 min chairlift ride and then walk 4 min according to the PDF. So you will have more than 30 min in the observatory.

That's great to hear! We were worried that we might not make it. Is the Kattamine Shrine also just nearby?

Kattamine Shrine

I think you mean Zao Kattamina Shrine which is a small shrine at the mountain top. According to the google map it is 400 m from the chairlift upper station.
