How hard to obtain Japanese business visa?

Hi there, has anybody tried the investor's visa? Is it doable if you just open up a small office, and invest 5 million yen into a low cost mutual fund, and call it a day as a business?

Yes, done it, not easy. Investing in a "mutual fund" is not a business. Earning 0.001% interest will not generate income. Immigration would toss out something like that in less than five minutes.
What business expertise do you have? Who is your Japanese representative? Where is your physical office?
You need to do a whole heap more research, or actually come up with a sensible plan.
