Is it early for fall foliage 11/1 in Hakone?

I plan to be in Hakone and then take a day trip to Fuji Five Lakes between 10/31-11/2/18. Is this too early for the fall foliage this year? If so, is there a better place in the general area?

Yes, that's a little early but I suggest you check the autumn color reports in this site as it could vary yearly. I usually visit between 1st and 2nd week of November, too; and found it better to visit in the 2nd week. You may want to check out Showa Kinen Koen as it turns a bit early and it's just an hour away from Central Tokyo.
