Hi hokuriku Arch Pass or JR 7 day pass 2018/10/3 00:34
Hi
I will be arriving Narita, staying 1 nite in Tokyo then 3 nites in Kanazawa before returning to Tokyo for last nite.Return flight from Narita.
I am debating whether to pay for a JR Rail pass or buy the Honriku Arch Pass. Please advise.
Thanks a lot!

If that is your only two destinations, then it would make sense to just get the arch pass. It would cover your trips to and from Narita on the N'ex as well as round trip to Kanazawa. It will also cover the Yamanote loop line in Tokyo. It should save you about 8000 yen vs paying full fare.

There is nothing extra that the full nationwide 7-day pass will cover for a trip between Narita, Tokyo and Kanazawa, so Arch pass is best deal.

Since your trip is short, I would suggest staying near Ueno or Tokyo stations so you can minimize travel time to Kanazawa.

Use HyperDia, the regular(no discounted) fare will be displayed.

In Japan rail companies are not only "JR".

That pass covers the JR lines within the 23-ward area (not just the Yamanote line) so would be quite useful within Tokyo. The coverage is shown on the pass website page.
