Changing visa status

Hello,
I'm still new here in Japan so there are lot of things I still don't understand concerning the immigration.
I made a change visa status from Designated activities to working visa 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for the reply. I'm really worried about the fact that I sent my letter of degree in French and didn't translate it. Do you think they can delay or refuse my visa for this reason?
Also how much time do you think it takes, living without salary it's getting pretty harsh? I made the request at shinagawa.
