Hokkaido in January

We'll be in Hokkaido for 8 days from 7 January. Travelling in public transport, we plan to do 1st 2 nights Sapporo, 1N Noboribetsu, 2N Otaru & last 2N Sapporo. I know it's too early for any snow festivals but we're wondering if there are some winter events that we call still see near to the cities we will be? We don't mind taking a train a bit out for it. Had thought of Tomamu Ice Village but several online comments indicated not worth a day trip if not into snow activities. This is our 3rd trip to Hokkaido, but 1st winter season. It's a R&R, gastronomic and scenic trip for us. Thank you.

It seems you are not interested in snow activities such as ski and ice slide. It is not a snow festival, but Sapporo Art Park offers sculpture garden walk in winter. You can enjoy walking around sculpture garden in the snow with snowshoes. Please access Sapporo Art Park website if you are interested. https://artpark.or.jp/en/map/#map2

Thanks for the suggestion, mm. The Art Park and snow shoe walk sounds good to me. Will check it out.
