Hi everyone,
Has anyone done road trip to all these 3 places in one day? > Akiyoshio cave > Motonosumi Inari Shrine > Tsuenoshima Ohashi and island
We are planning to do a day road trip from Hiroshima. Will rent a car from Shin Yamaguchi station.
Question: Can anyone share the best route to drive for these 3 places, the sequence? Question: Are these places worth visiting? Seems like these are not very popular spots even in this forum?
Appreciate in advance anyone who can help. Thank you very much.

For the first two at least, they are most certainly worth your attention. Akiyoshido is the best limestone cave in the country, with huge caverns above you and a river rushing past you. https://youtu.be/DqIKC9S8TFQThe shrine is nice too - not so many waterfront places and going uphill through the torii tunnels. Rather isolated though and hard to reach. By far the most time consuming will be the cave plus doing some hiking on the Akiyoshidai karst plateau. Haven't done the Tsunoshima Is. visit, but have a few friends who made it. It's mostly the long bridge ride that is enjoyable, and a drive around the small island. Not so much to do there except enjoy some nice ocean views.

Motonosumi Inari Shrine and Tsuenoshima Ohashi and island are within 10-15km of each other. And the caves are between those and Shin-Yamaguchi station.
You have about 4 hours of travel in the car. I would visit the caves first, as this is the location that will take up most of your time. Then the shrine. And then if time permits, the bridge and island.

Thank you Ken and Hakata14 for sharing. Feel more convincing now to make this one of our most time consuming, energy and effort to get there spots
Ken, thank you for the YouTube link. It is very well done and it really convinces me must go visit the cave. Questions: in the YouTube, there are shops shown, how far away on foot to the cave entrance? Are these shops the main way to cave entrance even we are driving?
Hakata14, we will do the sequence as you suggested.
Btw, is there any toilet around the cave? What about around the observation deck, any toilet?
Is eating and drinking allows inside the cave?
Thank you very much for your help.

The shops are very close to the main entrance. There is a restroom at the entrance but no eating/drinking inside, and maybe obvious, but no restrooms in the cave. Expect the cave to be neither hot nor cold, but it is quite humid.

Thank you Ken for your reply.
Is the toilet near the cave entrance the only toilet? Do you see toilet at the exit or anywhere near the observation deck?
We just want to be prepared for surprises from any of our 3 young kids visiting the cave with us.
May I know how long is the distance from cave entrance to the elevator for accessing the observation deck?
This info will be helpful in our planning for snack break for the kids.
Once again, thank you so much for your help.

If I remember correctly, there are toilets at both ends, as well as near " the observation deck"? Halfway in the cave there is a lift, that lift will take you above ground / the observation deck? Where the toilet is.
