Student Visa with bad attendance 2018/12/20 13:38
I am a language school student currently studying in Japan, due to an unfortunate situation I have been absent from class a lot and considered applying to a new school.

I planned to transfer(or at least try to) after my visa was renewed, but I worry that my visa will not be able to get renewed due to my poor attendance. Immigration has already asked me for an gexplanation letterh and Ifm not sure if this is an indicator they are likely to reject my renewal application.

Ifm just asking for general advice here as if I have to leave I have a lot of stuff to move out before my visa runs out and want to have time to wrap up all my affairs. Does immigration give you enough time to do this providing your application is denied?

My attendance rate is probably around 70-80% at this point, seeing as I was in good attendance for a long time

The fact that they asked for an explanation letter means that they want to know why you were absent so frequently. No more, no less.

When your application is denied, if your current status is not yet expired, nothing changes and you can stay until it expires. If your current status is expired, you are given a "grace period" to prepare for your departure, usually 30 days.

My current status expires tomorrow, the way my school handled this was to give me the paperwork required to extend my resident status almost one month before said status expires, and immigration has given me both a receipt that explains I can stay until gtwo months from the date of expiration or until a descicion has been madeh and a stamp on my residence card.

I also do qualify for another visa status, if my current status is rejected, am I able to apply for a change of status during this ggrace periodh ?

Not sure. I'd say no, but ask them.

Did you get the Visa? I am very curious because I am in the same situation but I want to apply for a new visa, I have already returned to my home country.
My attendance was 81%
Are there any chances of getting a visa with this attendance?
