Wakakusa Yamayaki 2018/12/26 21:30
Hi
Will arrive in Nagoya airport late january heading for Takayama but read that the Wakakusa Yamayaki will be held in Nara on 26th of January. Is it worth doing a detour for seeing that? I will be in Nagoya area a few days before going to Takayama, also doing a daytrip to Kyoto.

I do recommend to visit Nara to view Wakakusayama-yamayaki.
You can view the scene of Wakakusayama-yamayaki held in last January as below:

After the sacred ritual inviting monks and priests from Shinto Shrine and Buddhist Temples, there is a procession from Tobihino field to Wakakusayama hill. After the prayer, fire works will start at 18:15, which lasts about fifteen minutes. Grass burning will start at 18:30 and it lasts about one hour.

Have a nice trip!
