Donft know.
Do you want to stay in a place where you take a funicular railway to the bottom of a valley to go to the riverside onsen, or not?

I have been to both. If I were to return ƒzƒeƒ‹‘c’J‰·ò would be my choice.

I have been to both, too, and also prefer the Iyaonsen. It is one of the most unique hotels in all of Japan.

I've stayed at both and while Iya Onsen is a bit more expensive/luxury style and has the funicular down to the onsen, the Kazurabashi also has a little funicular UP to its rotenburo area and I actually thought the view from the rotenburo there was one of the best I've ever experienced in Japan.

I also thought the food was excellent at Kazurabashi and enjoyed dinner around the irori. They also had a performance of min-yo during dinner, which was enjoyable.

That said, the rooms are probably a bit better/more interesting at Iya Onsen and of course, it's right next to the 'Manekin Pis', if that's of interest.

The Kazurabashi is closer to the vine bridges themselves though without a car, neither place is particularly accessible...

Yes, AFAIK and from their websites, it seems that all the baths at both hotels are open as usual.

For your info, here's a photo I took of the rotenburo at Hotel Kazurabashi a few years ago:

Yes, you can clearly see that even with a picture of the private rotenburo in the very first link I posted.

Beware though how to reserve (if possible at all) the private bath. Just check the hotel webpage or call/email them. In some cases you might be able to reserve it upfront. In my experience however it is more like a first comes first serves pattern. In some cases you can reserve upon check in, in some cases you just need to get lucky to be there in situ at the right moment when no one is using it.

is it a problem to go into the bath with a tribal tattoo in the shoulder?
