Do sumo tournaments have assigned seating?

My friends and I (group of 5) would like to attend a sumo tournament together, but we want to make sure we sit together too. Should one person in our group buy all our tickets to ensure we all sit together? Or is the seating for sumo matches unassigned if we buy online? Thanks !

Most seats are assigned and need to be purchased in advance. A small number of unassigned seats in the back of the stadium are sold on the day. Seating, reservations and seat types are explained in more detail here: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2080.html
