Getting from Koyasan to Hiroshima

Hello,
planning to travel to Japan on March 20th
first destination is Osaka (2 nights) > Koyasan ( 1 night) > Hiroshima > Maybe some Kyushu's destinations > and then going all the way up to kyoto > Alpin route > tokyo (1.5 trip)
my question is: i know that using public traffic from Koyasan to Hiroshima takes about 5 hours and I've been thinking to stop at some destination in between for one night to cut the travel time a bit.
do u have any recommendations ?

Kyoto would actually be a good stop between Koyasan and Hiroshima.

Many places come to mind: Himeiji, Inujima, Okayama, Onomichi, Kobe, Kyoto...
Depends on your interests.

In fact I did the trip from Koyasan to Hiroshima in one day when I visited Japan for the first time. IMO, it it doable. However, I stayed for two nights in Hiroshima afterwards so that I could visit the city and Miyajima.
I'd just recommend to start your journey from Osaka quite early so that you have enough time in Koyasan for sightseeing. I started the journey from Kyoto and i found the time I had in Koyasan quite limited.
