What are the requirements for a 9 yr old kid who was born with a Japanese mom outside Japan to enroll to school in Japan? Just checking if a kid can be enrolled in Japan even tho she was born and raised in a different country. Her Mom is Japanese Citizen because of a Japanese Dad. Does the kid need any type of visa for her to enroll? Thanks

Any child living in Japan, regardless of the background, has the "right" to enroll for compulsory education. Compulsory education in Japan is for children from age 6 to 15. But to live in Japan, one would need a proper visa, and this includes children.
Also, if a child as old as 9 had received no Japanese education up to that point, (s)he might have difficulties at school. But there are indeed systems to support these children's lack of education.
For more details, contact a public organization such as a board of education in Japan or a Japanese Embassy near you.
