The best way to get from Oita to Yufuin

I know there is a bus from Oita airport to Yufuin. Does anyone know the English website to check the schedule? Also does the bus ride covered with JRpass? If not what is the price for the bus ticket?
Thank you in advance for answering the question. I am arriving at Oita airport from Osaka at 11 am. We will stay in Yufuin onsen for two nights. Is it better to go straight to YUfuin or there is something to visit close to the airport area? Any advice?

Bus is not covered by jr pass.

If you have a jr pass. Have you thought of traveling the whole distance by train. Approx 5 hours.

This site is not in English, but you can see English translation. By the way, Oita airport is not in Oita city. If you say Oita to Yufuin, it is usually accepted as Oita city to Yufuin town.

As stated above, no. JR pass is for those operated by "Japan Rail" companies, not for other companies. This bus is operated by Oita Kotsu, which is not a part of "Japan Rail".

1550 yen one way, 2600 yen round trip.

I went yufuin from Beppu city by bus pass for unlimited travel for 1 or 2 days by kamenoi bus.

Oita Airport is one of those inconveniently located Japanese Airports. It's north of Beppu City on the east side of the Kunisada Peninsula, so if you wanted to use a JR Pass, you'd have to take a bus from the airport to Beppu or Oita City. To save on the bus fare, you could pick up a local JR train at Kitsuki or Oga stations which are the closest to the airport for Beppu and Oita City.

It's only about 1 hour by train from Oita city to Yufuin and probably about an hour from the airport to Oita City. It could be 2-1/2 hours if you have some connections to wait on. The bus would be somewhere around Y1500 to Oita City.

Otherwise, a direct bus from the airport to Yufuin from the above Oitakotsu links would be the most convenient and would run Y2600 and take about an hour.
