Smoking policies in Hokkaido 2019/1/20 06:53
Does anyone know what the policies / culture are around smoking in Hokkaido? I occasionally like to smoke a tobacco pipe and was wondering if smoking in towns / parks in Hokkaido is frowned upon, or even allowed in the first place.

Thank you.

Only in the southern part of Sapporo station(JR and city subway),
walking smoking is prohibited by the local city raw, violators are a fine of 1000 yen.

In other areas, there is no particular restriction unless there is no smoking sign.
In restaurants, there are many that separate non-smoking and smoking seats.

Also in larger stores, terminals have smoking area/sites usual.

In urban areas not limited to Sapporo,
there are almost no garbage boxes on the street, so please use portable ashtray.
