Takayama to Hirayu Onsen and Matsumoto

Hello all,

I will be traveling by 2x buses from Takayama to Hirayu Onsen, and then Hirayu Onsen to Matsumoto, respectively (Takayama-Matsumoto line).

So far from previous threads and the nohi bus website, it seems that I won�ft be able to reserve bus tics online. The Nohi bus website states that reservation is not required.

What is the best way to get bus tickets? Do I simply line up at the bus stop and pay as I board? Or Can I buy both tickets (Takayama->Hirayu + Hirayu->Matsumoto) at Takayama station when I arrive? Can I buy it even earlier in Tokyo?

Hi, I'm not from the area that you mentioned in the question, but I searched on google : It seems you don't have to reserve the bus ticket to get to Takayama-Hirayu +Hirayu->Matsumoto.(It is said on this page:https://www.nouhibus.co.jp/highwaybus/matsumoto/). It takes about an hour to get Hirayu from Takayama station. From Hirayu->Matsumoto, It takes about more than 2 hours.
At Takayama station, there is a bus center(https://tic.jnto.go.jp/detail.php?id=1160), so maybe you can ask about ticket info at the desk. Hope it helps.

You just front up on the day and buy the bus ticket at the ticket counter in Takayama. No reservation is available (I asked about that last time I was there).
