Advice on booking a hotel in Tokyo and Kyoto

I will be going to Japan in July arriving at Narita International Airport, and I want to book a hotel that has a japanese style at a moderate price. What internet pages can I use for booking that are trust worthy and how much time before my date of arrival should I Iook for the prices, because I have been trying to look for price estimates but most don�Lt have the price available as the date is too far away.

I normally use Jalan. I believe they are Japan based and I find they have a lot of hotels (but only few Minshukus).

If you register you�fll also get points and can pay with some points at your next hotel. However you get them only in the following month of your stay and you need to indicate that you want to pay with points at booking. So not sure how practical that is for tourists.
