Sapporo, Furano & Biei in March

Hello there,
I'm planning for a trip to Sapporo, Furano & Biei in mid march (16-22 March 2019). We've decided to drive from Sapporo to Furano & Biei and goes back to Sapporo. May I know how's the road condition during that time? My husband & I have no experience driving in a snowy condition.
Please advise.

There is snow, and snow melts during the daytime and gets frozen again at night, so the road can be slippery.
I discourage people to rent a car without winter driving skills in winter.
