Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/26 00:33
We'll be flying into Haneda airport and have been searching the Internet about transportations. Looks
like the two major ones are Keikyu Line and the monorail that will take you into the Tokyo area. Of course,
there's taxi which probably the most expensive of all. I also read about limousine buses. Can someone offer me some guidance how these buses work? Do they go straight into the major stations (ex: Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku)? I know taking Keikyu is the fastest but would like to know about these limousine buses.

Thanks

The only major station in Tokyo that has a direct rail link to Haneda is currently Shinagawa (with Keikyu). Otherwise it's either rail with transfers or bus.

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/26 15:20
HND int'l web mentioned about transpotations and has EN route finder.
http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/en/
http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/en/access/accessfinding.html
However, in those sections Google Maps also enough and easier to understand.

Limo bus is convenient direct access no transfering,
but announced baggage limitation and more, just not so hard, but readcarefully.

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/26 22:38
We have some luggages and a kid. The place we're staying in is near the Kinshicho station. I know I can take Keikyu (at Haneda) -> Shinagawa (take Yokosuka line) -> Kinshicho. Then walk 10-12 mins. After the a really long flight, I think I would rather take a taxi from Tokyo station to avoid the walking. How easy is it to take a taxi from Tokyo station? Are the taxi always there or we have to call them?

Also, I'm a bit confused about the Yokosuka Line into Kinshicho station. I don't see the Yokosuka line at Kinshicho station on some of the maps I'm looking at. It shows Sobu Line. Does the Yokosuka line at some point (maybe after Tokyo station) become the Sobu Line? Are they the same?

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/27 00:38
More like some trains that run on the Yokosuka line continue on the Sobu line after reaching the end of the Yokosuka (which is indeed Tokyo).

So do you know if you have to get off the Yokosuka line and hop on the Sobu line or just stay inside?

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/27 05:54
Hello, we arrive at Haneda airport at 6:30 PM, but the ticket booth to exchange our JR pass closes at 6:30 PM. Where is the next closest ticket center to exchange the JR pass? And without this exchanged JR pass, what is the cheapest way to transport into Tokyo? Thanks, Diane

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/27 08:34
Sydney - you don't say what time you arrive at Haneda but here's an example of trains from Shinagawa to Kinshicho.

http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=SHINAGAWA&arv_node...

In this example, the "double arrows" next to Tokyo in the first result mean that you just stay on the train. As you can see, it arrives and departs from track 4 and does so within 1 minute (even Japanese trains aren't that efficient that they can have two physically-different trains arrive and depart that quickly...).

I suggest you use this example and adjust it to suit your arrival time etc.

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/27 08:50
Hi tt7,

I appreciate the example. Yes, this is becoming clear to me now. I will play around with your site a bit more for other routes. So double arrow always means same train? We'll arrive at 2pm on Friday. My guess is, we won't reach Tokyo until around 4pm. I have a feeling Tokyo station will be packed with rush hours as well.

We have to take a 8.30am flight leaving Haneda on Sunday. How are the trains on Sundays and do you think we'll have problems being having to leave the hotel so early?

Thanks

Hi tt7,

The link you sent is pretty good. It has enough details. I have searched the web so many times but this site never popped up. When I searched for Haneda Int'l -> Kinshicho, the Keikyu Line never showed up.
Here's the url:

http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=HANEDA%20AIRPORT%2...

The other sites I've used while searching, they all recommended to take:

Haneda (Keikyu Line) -> Shinagawa (Yokosuka Line) -> Tokyo (Sobu Line) -> Kinshicho

This seems pretty straightforward and simple enough.

This is only 1 transfer. Why "hyperdia.com" does not suggest this?

Try this one - the first train is the Keikyu line to Shinagawa.

http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=HANEDA%20AIRPORT%2...

It gives the same result as this one -

When I searched for Haneda Int'l -> Kinshicho, the Keikyu Line never showed up.
Here's the url:

If the through services from Shinagawa to Kinshicho do not show up on Hyperdia, it means that they are not running at your selected departure date and time. Also, by default Hyperdia prioritises the routes that will get you at your destination most quickly, regardless of the number of transfers. If you want the fewest transfers, choose "Transfer" in the "Order" search option (and possibly also increase the "Route Output" to display more routes).

You said "If the through services from Shinagawa to Kinshicho do not show up on Hyperdia, it means that they are not running at your selected departure date and time."

I know Tokyo transit is massive and can be confusing for tourists (like myself). I understand the frequency of the Tokyo metro lines maybe due to the time of day and where you want to go. What I want to know is, using the same example going from Shinagawa -> Kinshicho, is it possible when the Yokosuka line reaches the end (ie Tokyo sta), it stops there and does not continue on as the Sobu Line to Kinshicho? I definitely want to be prepared for this in advance and come up with plan B.

(By the way, how do you guys highlight text when replying?)

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/28 01:06
Yes, there are some trains on the Yokosuka line that terminate at Tokyo. The terminus is shown on the platform signs and on the train itself (and on Hyperdia), so if you see one that says Tokyo, just wait for the next one.

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/2/28 18:54
By the way, for reference here are the timetables for Shinagawa station, Yokosuka line towards Tokyo:

Weekdays https://www.jreast-timetable.jp/1902/timetable/tt0788/0788080.html
Weekends and holidays https://www.jreast-timetable.jp/1902/timetable/tt0788/0788081.html

You want to avoid the trains that are in black and marked with 東 (those are the ordinary trains that terminate at Tokyo) and the trains in red (that's the Narita Express, it does not stop at Kinshicho). As far as I can tell, all other trains stop at Kinshicho (though I didn't check them all).

Thank you for these tips. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to look for. Was hoping there would signal/flag in English. I have been playing around with this site and I really like it. tt7 posted in one of the replies.

www.hyperdia.com

So I was a bit concern with the flight leaving at 8.30am on Sunday. I used the above site and put in
leaving 5am from Kinshicho to Haneda. Good thing is they do have trains leaving that early from Kinshicho. Here's my search result:

http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KINSHICHO&arv_node...

It's the same trains but in reverse order.

Do taxi run starting around 5AM and if they do, how do you call them if you are not staying at a hotel?

Re: Transportations from Haneda 2019/3/1 05:03
One comment about the results I posted in my last reply. None of routes suggest you to take Keikyu Line from Shinagawa. This is something I had asked before about using "www.hyperdia.com" when searching from Haneda to Kinshicho. They never mentioned Keikyu. So, in my last result, does it really mean Keikyu is not running (or not available for the time I put in - 5AM) or is it just "www.hyperdia.com" not promoting to take Keikyu at Shinagawa -> Haneda?

In your results, routes 1 and 5 both take the Keikyu line from Shinagawa. Click on the “interval timetable” link next to the train name to see all the trains for the day, where they stop (and what they are called).

There will be English signage at the station.
