Kawazuzakura near Tokyo

Ifll be in Tokyo from 04 Mar 2019. My original plan was to see kawazuzakura in Kawazu; however, it seems that flowers would be gone when I reach there (given a whole rainy week this week). Please advise if therefs any other festival location around Tokyo (with kawazuzakura type of sakura) so that I can enjoy. I have little hope that other locations will have better weather conditions than Kawazu and flowers may last longer (maybe). Many thanks.

Hi! You should be right on time. As of today the Kairakuen website says it's at 43%, so by the 4th it should be relatively peak! http://www.mitokoumon.com/festival/ume.htmlI loved Kairakuen when I went 3/15 in 2009. The sakura was relatively early that year too but the ume were still lovely in Mito. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did!
