wakayamashi station jr gate

Hello, has anyone been to wakayamashi station. it is unmanned station for the JR section and it is equipped with automatic gates only, there is no staff at the station. In this case how does japan rail pass user pass thru the gate. Can someone explain it please.

It is a manned station

Wakayamashi stn has Nankai(南海) and JR tracks in the Nankai Rail stn house(now under construction).
There are only Nankai staff in this stn, JR is unmanned and has only automatic ticket gate is right.

But, in this stn there is "intercom(インターホン = interphone)" with the automatic ticket gate,
so push the call button first, then when you hear the voice of operator put the pass on the table space
and say "I/We have Rail Pass", the operator will open the automatic ticket gate remotoly
from another JR stn(maybe next Wakayama stn) quickly, very easy.

Anyway after you read the guide on the linked page(by JR-WEST),
you can easily understand by watching 2:50 of first movie and other JR-WEST stns movies.

However, this intercom system is installed only in major unmanned and more stns.
If no automatic ticket gate and no ticket gate stn in/out,
you can enter the platform and get on the train, it is not illegal, no worry.
Pass holders just show the pass only in the train where a conductor comes
and when getting off at the manned stn, very simple do not so think serious.

There is no such list of stns with intercom on the ticket gate, it is no worth.
