Hi i understand that the kansai area pass are now workable thru the automatic gates. in the case of rinku town station, the ticket gates are shared by nankai and jr, so wil this pass be valid thru all the automatic gates at the station or there are " jr tickets " only kind of automatic gates. im confused about this station. thank you

Regarding the station layout of Rinku Town Station, please refer to the website below: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rink%C5%AB_Town_StationOperation of both JR and Nankai Rinku Town station is managed by Nankai Railway. There are two colored ticket gates: pinkish ones are for Nankai and JR West; blue one is for SUICA and/or toICA. Since you have JR (West ) Kansai Area Pass, you can pass through the pinky gates.

We used JR Kansai Wide Pass last year in February. At that time all the places we went to we were able to use the automatic gate except Takamatsu. No big fuss, just used the manned gate. Sorry no experience as to Rinku Town Station.

To bungbang888, What you says JR gate is for only SUICA and/or toICA as I mentioned above. ICOCA was originally from JR East and toICA was from JR Totakai. JR Kansai Area Pass is originally from JR West and passengers who hold JR Kansai Area Pass should pass through Nankai Ticket Gate as I mentioned on the above.

I see nowhere in the video that suggested you can use them on the automatic gates, same as IC cards or paper tickets. It only shows the girl walking through the passage next to the automatic gates and passing the pass to the man at the window for access.
This is what myself and others have exampled as "manned gates." All stations with automaticgates will have at least one manned gate to allow access for those without IC cards or paper tickets.

Nevermind. Has small text hidden down the bottom about using gate A (manned gate) and gate B (automatic gate).
Anyway, as before, there will be at least one manned gate minimum per station (with auto gates), so don't worry about access, just use the manned gate if unsure.
