Hi all, I am living in Tokyo and I am traveling overseas soon. I want to buy some lenses for my camera before I leave. I can't find any information about duty free shopping for residents. All the information is aimed at tax free visitors. Any information/advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance

Do you mean at so-called "duty free" stores in airports? Then you pay the 8% consumption tax, and possibly also import duties, at customs when you re-enter Japan.

You can buy tax free in the country youfll be visiting, as any Japanese tourist could.
