Unique baby gifts 2019/3/3 10:42
What are some unique baby gifts specific to Japan?

My friend just had a baby and I'd like to send something to her. The only thing I could think of was stuffed animals of characters from Japan that are hard or even impossible to buy in the US. Any ideas are helpful! I'm not super baby friendly, so I have no idea!

I think Anpanman goods would be best. Go to a baby store and they'll have a good range of toys, clothes, supplies.

There is a variety of traditional toys that you can buy at folk-craft souvenir shops. Among them, things like "den-den taiko" or "kami-fuusen" are light, simple, and therefore suitable for newborns.

If you're aiming for something a little bit more expensive or classy, all-natural wooden toys are a luxury, because they are pricey yet ever-lasting compared to the plastic versions of something similar. Again, there are plenty of wooden folk-craft, domestic and foreign. You can visit department stores and discuss it with the shop clerk who'd know best.
