Which day to do Alpine Route?

Our cruise starts on Sun May 5 from Yokohama.
I know it's Golden Week and unfortunately and there's no other option.
We would like to do the Alpine Route on either the 3rd and Hakone the 4th or vice versa.
I have visited Japan several times and these are 2 sights that we have not visited.
I am considering the following:
May 2
Arrive NRT
May 3
Alpine Route
My research shows it can be done in a day and possibly a long day (7a - 10p).
May 4
Hakone
Any suggestions whether to see 730 Robot Show on May 2 or May 4?
