Venlafaxine medicine, bring to Japan 2019/4/6 20:51
Hi,
Planning for my upcoming summer trip in Japan.

Considering bringing personal medication, I have been using an anti-depressant prescription drug called "venlafaxine" for several months and will continue at least through summer. Due to the severe side effects of suddenly stopping taking this drug, it is quite important I bring this with me.

Where can I find out if this is okay to bring into Japan?

It is not morphine or anything like that sort of drug.

The information on this page is useful: https://www.au.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/visa_medicine_en.html

If you click on the first link, you can read all about the requirements. I emailed when I had questions and got very prompt and helpful replies.

Enjoy your trip!
