Tattoos and bodybuilding in Japan

Hello all,
I will be working in Japan, and I am a bit concerned about the tattoo discrimination. One of the worst things i've discovered is that apparently gyms will ban people with tattoos from even working out there. I am a competitive bodybuilder with a full sleeve tattoo. Here in the USA it's almost abnormal for other lifters not to have tattoos than to have them. I'm wondering, does anyone have experience with being an avid gym goer and having lots of tattoos? Will it really be that difficult for me to find a gym to go to just because I have tattoos?

hey mate!
im also bodybuilder and want to move to japan for 1 year. the same problem was in my head and the only solution for that problem will be to train with a pullover. so the gym times with tanktops or stringer will be over when you move to japan.

well, long sleeves will only work if you never use the shower or the changing room in the gym...
