SIM card for Voice calls 2019/5/5 15:35
Hi all,

We will be in Hokkaido for around 11 days (self drive) and is thinking of getting a SIM card at the airport to use for calling the Hotels while on the road in case we are running late for check-ins.

Would like to have your advice on which SIM card or provider to buy from? Any suggestions? Thanks much!

As far as I know as non resident you cannot get a SIM card with phone function. HOWEVER what you can get (and what I use) is a data only SIM card, get some skype credit and call from skype to any landline or mobile phone.

Enjoy your trip to Hokkaido!

I would also take a took at using https://voice.google.com/u/0/about and see if its viable and available in Japan.

That is not correct. As a tourist I have had both a prepaid phone from Softbank and more recently a voice and data sim from Mobal (http://mobal.com)

I recommend Mobal, they offer both types of simcards - data only & data+voice (though I only used the data only simcards)
