Cities and tours in 18 days

We are planning a tour in Japan touching some different cities and one-day tours. Here below a draft list:
day 1: Narita Airport-Tokyo
day 3: Tokyo-Narita and return
day 5: Tokyo-Kamakura and return
day 7: Tokyo-Kanazawa
day 8: Kanazawa-ShirakawaGo and return
day 9: Kanazawa-Kyoto
day 11: Kyoto-Nara and return
day 13: Kyoto-Uji and return
day 15: Kyoto-Hiroshima
day 16: Hiroshima-Osaka
day 18: Osaka-Osaka Airport

Do you recommend to buy a 14-days Japan Rail Pass for these rides? Or is it not useful to cover that cities and so much days?

If you can, go to Hiroshima before Kyoto and keep the long distance in days 7-13. That way you'll be able to use a 7 day pass instead.

In that case, which type of trains I have to take in order to travel between the other cities?
