Hi. We’ll be visiting Japan for cherry blossom season next year. Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Kanazawa regions with quiet few small surrounding towns and sights. I would love to participate in mochi making workshop. Does anybody have any suggestions in those areas as vicinities? We don’t mind to travel for that. Thank you very much

Hi! I'm Japanese living in Tokyo. If you are used to climbing a mountain and can gather some people, It is worth looking into this proposal. (It's not workshop, but the staff should show you how to do Mochitsuki.) The mountain hut of Mt.Kagenobu(景信山 elevation: 727m), which is in the west of Tokyo, accepts the experience of Mochitsuki. Take the Chuo line or Keio Line at Shinjuku and getting off the train at Takao(高尾) station(※Not Takaosanguchi(高尾山口)). And take a local buss toward Kobotoke(小仏) (terminal buss stop). It takes about 1hour on the foot(mountain climbing) to get to the summit of Mt.Kagenobu from Kobotoke buss stop. The hut "Aoki(青木)" is there. They accept the reservation of Mochitsuki by 1臼("usu")(about for 12person). However, the reservation site say that "Please consult us if there are few people". Here are URL of the hut and another. ★Reservation Site of Mochitsuki at the mountain hut of Mt.Kagenobu https://ameblo.jp/kagenobuyama727/entry-12219578605.html★Around the Mt.Takao Map (→「高尾山自然研究路コースマップ(英語版)」) https://www.takaotozan.co.jp/course/#h3_02★Someone's article about Mochitsuki at Mt.Kagenobu https://www.yamareco.com/modules/yamareco/detail-1709991.htmlhttps://www.happy-town.net/course/1311Have a nice trip :-)
