I read it is possible to visit a paper mill in Futamata
can Futamata be reached by public transportation ?
is there another paper mill in Shirakawago area ? to be reached by public transportation ?

Not a proper factory type of paper mill but Washi-no-Sato in Gokayama does offer washi paper DIY hands-on experience.
